Blue A Collective Partners with Nonprofit Inclusive Sports Foundation

In the dynamic landscape of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), it is crucial to establish a collective capable of addressing the needs of our student-athletes while also offering benefits to donors and members. Earlier this year, the IRS issued a memo indicating that new applications for collectives seeking 501(c)(3) status would likely face challenges in approval. This development prompted us to explore alternatives to assure supporters that their funds are utilized appropriately and are eligible for tax deductions.

To ensure adherence to the regulations outlined in IRC Section 501(c)(3), the Blue A Collective has entered into a fiscal sponsorship arrangement with the Inclusive Sports Foundation, a public charity. Under this partnership, Inclusive Sports Foundation will manage the acceptance and distribution of charitable funds at or exceeding $1,000 to further the mission of the Blue A Collective.

“We will consistently seek opportunities to position the Blue A Collective for growth and sustainability. This partnership with the Inclusive Sports Foundation enables us to advance these objectives while also delivering benefits to our members,” said Gary Andersen, co-founder of the Blue A Collective. “Our vision and purpose align with Diana Sabau and USU Athletics, and we will continue in our efforts to provide life-improving opportunities for our student-athletes.”

The joint mission of the Blue A Collective and its collaboration with Inclusive Sports Foundation is to operate exclusively for the exempt purposes specified in section 501(c)(3), demonstrating a commitment to serving the public interest and meeting both qualitative and quantitative criteria. The Blue A Collective will continue its collaborations with charitable organizations in Cache Valley, facilitating our student-athletes in making positive contributions to the community.

Remaining dedicated to compliance, the Blue A Collective will continually refine its practices to align with best practices. From the outset, our objective has been to establish a sustainable NIL program, enhancing the lives of Utah State's student-athletes and providing a competitive edge in the NIL space. We eagerly anticipate building upon the initial success of our collective.
